Alexis’ Birthday Celebration at Garaje (SF)

OUR NIGHT OUT STORY:

I had dinner at Garaje without knowing about it until the next morning. Just for the record,  I was very much oriented to person, place and time despite the two yummy  cocktails that I had  at Alchemist.

My girls and I initially went to Alchemist Bar and Lounge to celebrate Alexis’ birthday. After finding out that Alchemist did not have food on the menu, we decided to hit up another place. Given that it was baseball night in SF on a Friday evening, every single restaurant was packed.

I just followed my BFFs when they told me they knew exactly the place to go. And I arrived at Garaje without knowing it.

Garaje is advertised as a Mexican/Burger place. In all reality, it is a sports bar/watering hole at South of Market. It was happening and very packed that it was a miracle that we were able to snag a table.

SCENE:

The ambiance was fun, loud but tame. It is bi-leveled and features a garage door – thus, Garaje (which is garage in English). You order at the counter and the food will be brought to your table. CASH ONLY.

EATS:

My girls and I had the most fun time together. The food really stood out for me which made me really want to find out the name of  this place when I woke up the next morning. And imagine how  thrilled I was when I realized that I was actually at Garaje last night. Garaje has been on my list to check out forever!  We ordered standard bar food but they were actually quite memorable. We ordered:

  • Fish and chips
  • Shrimp tacos
  • Fish tacos
  • Lot and lots of fries.
  • Steak tacos and a burger (for Jannette who is carnivore)

We ate lots and well that night.

IMBIBE:

My gals ordered beer on tap and sangria. Not being a beer-drinker, they chose a dark beer for me that tasted like chocolate which was really yummy!

Such a fun evening with my BFFs at a fun venue. My only regret was I wish I took better pictures!

Another round, please – with my gals!
