Girls Happy Hour: Library Bar (SF)

03. 07. 2014

After not seeing each other since the holidays, my girlfriends planned a girls evening out/Happy Hour. We wanted to try a new venue – I suggested the Library Bar.

The Library Bar is located at the lobby of Hotel Rex which is a small boutique hotel. Yelp totally failed us on this one. I have never been here before.  I was disappointed as soon as I walked in.  My gfs, who already ordered drinks, whispered to me that the new-on-the-job bartender could not make any of the drinks they requested  because he did not have the alcohols in stock.

The bar itself was dated and looked dingy.  Maybe it was named the Library Bar because of the bookshelf in the corner, otherwise, it did not have much appearance and character of a “library.”

The Library Bar is not for having a classy/fabulous night out with your girlfriends. It is more of a venue for a quiet drink and/or dinner by yourself or even the traveling family.

FOOD:

We decided to go to Cantina next door which does not serve food. Eating at The Library Bar worked out for us. We ordered:

  • Chicken Flatbread $11

(House made flat bread with poached pear, grilled chicken, brie and bacon.) This was actually pretty yummy! The bread was crisp and hot. The pear and brie combo was rich and luscious.

  •  2 orders of Hand Cut Kennebec Fries $4.50 each

They were just okay.  Perfect as snacks before imbibing.

HIGHLIGHTS:
* Live music on Friday nights.
* Great place to grab dinner before imbibing at Cantina next door.
* Good for low-key family dinner when traveling in SF.
* Friendly place for solo diners.
* Food was decent and of good quality.
* Very friendly and very nice bartender and staff! A big, big plus in my book!
